Paramedic Preceptors

American Ambulance Service, Inc. works in conjunction with W.W. Backus Hospital to ensure the deliverance of high quality pre-hospital medical care. The primary method used to oversee the ever-increasing demands of paramedicine is through the precepting program. This program enables the Medical Director to carefully assess the overall performance of a new paramedic while working under the direct supervision of an experienced preceptor. During this process, the paramedic candidate must demonstrate proficiency in organization, time management, psychomotor, critical thinking and communication skills, prior to becoming an independent advanced life support health care provider.
